Intention

ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Many of you may have encountered this hadith before. It's the first hadith in the 40 Hadith of An-Nawawi. I've heard it for many times, but I am glad Allah let me read it one more time, Alhamdulillah.
Actions are judged by intentions
It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu'minin, Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, say:
"Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated."
[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
I am a scared woman right now, after being reminded of this hadith. It is easier said than done, to have our niyyah renewed everyday. Preaching is easier than walking the talk. Nauzubillah, I pray and hope that I am not one of those who do deeds, for others but Allah alone.
Lets renew our niyyah in doing things, even if it is in the simplest form of act like smiling and walking to the biggest in performing our ibadah. May Allah reward us Jannah.
